International Teacher Forum – Slovak Republic

 

Structure:

Keynote speeches: 60 minutes (40 + 20 minutes for audience questions)

Workshops: 60 minutes (10-minute OECD presentation + 50 minute panel discussion + time for audience questions)

Focus Groups: 90 minutes (4 parallel Focus Groups per Workshop)

 

Workshop topics:

  • Topic 1: Using technology and social media in the classroom. How can teachers and students use new technologies and social media to promote learning?
    • OECD moderator: Aakriti Kalra, Consultant in the Teaching and Learning International Survey (TALIS) team, OECD Directorate for Education and Skills

 

  • Topic 2: Using assessment to promote 21st century skills. How does classroom assessment need to change to promote 21st century skills?
    • OECD moderator: Christa Rawkins, Policy Analyst in the Education Policy Outlook team, OECD Directorate for Education and Skills

 

  • Topic 3: Creating a professional collaboration culture among teachers. Why teacher collaboration matters and what does effective professional learning look like?
    • OECD moderator: Thomas Radinger, Analyst in the School Resources Review team, OECD Directorate for Education and Skills

 

  • Topic 4: Teaching for tomorrow. How can we teach students the creativity, problem solving, and collaborative skills needed to overcome the complex challenges of the 21st century? 
    • OECD moderator: Pablo Fraser, Project Co-ordinator and Analyst in the Teaching and Learning International Survey (TALIS) team, OECD Directorate for Education and Skills

 

 

 

  • Topic 5: Feedback matters. How do we gather and use feedback from students, peers, parents and school leaders to improve practice?
